Issue:
I would like to upgrade my code-based [OLD] F-Secure Internet Security or Antivirus subscription to the new account-based F-Secure Internet Security (formerly SAFE). What do I do?
Resolution:
It is advisable to upgrade your current [OLD] F-Secure Internet Security or Anti‑Virus subscription to new F-Secure Internet Security (formerly SAFE) as close to the expiry date as possible. As the new F-Secure Internet Security is a different product, the remaining days of your current [OLD] Internet Security subscription cannot be automatically transferred to your new account-based F-Secure Internet Security subscription.
To upgrade to the new account-based F-Secure Internet Security (formerly SAFE), simply allow your [OLD] F-Secure Internet Security subscription to expire and purchase a new F-Secure Internet Security (formerly SAFE) subscription by going to the:
- F-Secure product webpage, or;
- Selecting the F-Secure Internet Security (formerly SAFE) buy option in the renewal email that you have received from F-Secure
As you go through the purchase process, you are asked to create a My F-Secure account. F-Secure Internet Security (formerly SAFE) subscriptions are accessed and managed through the My F-Secure service.
Once your purchase is complete:
- Create a My F-Secure account using the same email you used to make the purchase.
- Once created, check your email for an activation email sent by F-Secure, and activate your account by clicking the link in the email. Your account is confirmed and created.
As F-Secure Internet Security (formerly SAFE) is a different product, you need to download and install the product from the My F-Secure service. Follow the instructions below to install F-Secure Internet Security (formerly SAFE) on your devices:
Once you have installed the new F-Secure Internet Security (formerly SAFE) on your device and the status of the product shows that your device is protected, you need to uninstall the [OLD] F-Secure Internet Security from the computer.
Two security products can cause conflicts when installed on the same computer. To remove the [OLD] Internet Security from your Windows computer:
- From the Windows Start menu, go to Control Panel > Uninstall a program. A list of installed programs is shown.
- Select the [OLD] F-Secure Internet Security > Uninstall.
