DeepGuard blocks access to my files

Hi!

I have a problem with DeepGuard suddenly blocking access to two of my apps: genealogy database software Genney and Open Office (very old).

I have run these apps for many years on a MacBook Pro/OS Monterey. Last May I installed F-Secure, and things were running smoothly – until the other day.

Now I get all kinds of error messages when I try to open my genealogy database or my Open Office files. For example, for Genney, ”DeepGuard blocked access to ’Genney’ for JavaAppLauncher” and ”File cannot be found” (lots of those). And for Open Office: ”DeepGuard blocked access to file ’Library’ for soffice”, or ”DeepGuard blocked access to file ’Dokument egna’ for soffice”, followed by a number of messages about the document having been locked for editing by unknown user, or having been damaged. It is suggested that I open the document in read-only mode or open a copy, but it doesn’t work. It is suggested that I repair the file, but it can’t be done. In the end I get a ”General error” message.

I have tried excluding both of these apps – also individual files – from being scanned by DeepGuard. It makes no difference.

I have run F-Secure, which assures me there are no threats.

Has anyone got an inkling of what this is all about?
