Add possibility to limit Safe browser usage

Integration of Safe browser is a terrible idea, because as a parent you cannot limit it's usage. It is useless to add app limitations because if the phone is open, kids can use Safe browser and play online games with it. This has resulted in our house that I needed to deny all phone usage (limitation on all day long). Otherwise my kids are playing online games because I cannot limit Safe browser.

This is very annoying. If I give unlimited access to ANY application, kids can also use Safe browser and play online games. YOU NEED TO ADD POSSIBILITY TO ALSO LIMIT SAFE BROWSER also. My need is to limit internet usage (browser usage to zero) but allow kids to use SMS and some applications we have agreed together.

I am very disappointed to this feature. Does not any of the developers have kids who are using this loop hole???????

    Hello,

Sorry for my reply. I am also only an F-Secure user. And I am also with almost zero experience with the most recent F-Secure Android-platform application. But..

As I understand it, your main task is to prevent your child from using the Internet only via a web browser. Thus, "restricting" (preventing) a network connection (Internet or anything else) is not an available solution. Also, the existing functionality of limiting the use of the device as a whole (and not specific applications), for example, only a certain number of hours a day, will not help. Screening time, so to speak.

I think in your case the best option would be to request something like an allow/block list of websites for Safe Browser (or for the device itself). Or better to say: possibility to use Safe Browser as "whitelist"-based browser. To let kids to open via Safe Browser only allowed websites (and to block anything else). I think it is bit more easy to implement for developers with its current approach of application design.

    However,

It is useless to add app limitations because if the phone is open, kids can use Safe browser and play online games with it.

can you try to utilise Family Rules (content filtering) feature? Description is available there: https://help.f-secure.com/product.html#home/total-android/latest/en/task_E6E60F3B908B413CA61412EAD494CEE6-latest-en

That is, if you block most categories, it is likely that most sites will be restricted from visiting.

    And another note,

Does not any of the developers have kids who are using this loop hole???????

Based on my experience with Android platform and Android applications, even if there will be no Safe Browser (or it will be possible to apply limits to its usage) - there are quite a lot loop holes to use 'web' or play online games even by exploiting the average savvy app; or even the Android-system features itself. I mean, If children want to cheat the agreed upon restrictions, there are very little solutions.

    Thanks.
