I really hope so, 25.3 is bad (Win10). It prevents access to many sites that were working fine before this update. Changing VPN method does not take effect until you switch VPN on and off many times. Also it seems that even with VPN off changing the VPN method has effect so it is not actually off even when it is in off state. For me the speed is ok though.
-
Looking forward towards when the F-secure VPN starts to work with Microsoft Windows 11 (ARM).
At this point of time, i have paid for a F-Secure service that dont support a OS from one of the worlds biggest software company fully (AV suit works fine, but the VPN can not be installed at all) and thats what i expected at all.
-
VPN (in 25.3, problems started when newest update came) doesn't work with Chromecast(2.gen) at all. Also problems with multiple webservices/ - page. Not very good user experience at the moment.
On the other hand some ("tv")stream services works now just fine with VPN, they didn't work before. Maybe they are working just temporarily.
Anyway hope the next update comes soon and fix the problems.

Agreed. It seems the dev has not progressed and slowed the last years. Many other offerings are just as price competitive, yet have better UI/UX, protection and a more robust feature set. We are evaluating a few to possibly make the change for or 200+ nodes at work. This issue has affected about 25% of our endpoints and with updates failing, I and upper management are not longer confident.

We also have problems. Severe problems with performance eating 1/5 of the CPU on our computers and we need those for our work and like you we also do not get REAL help. No money back. No help to downgrade. They say the will but so far no real help. On good thing used to be the support and that the product itself was lightweight and also did not cause problem itself. Now it seems they bought F-secure to get rid of it. Was it a too good program to compete with?

Well after being clients every year for 26 years we now have had enough of F-Secure. Uninstalled it to start with on my wife's computer and installed a Slovak antivirus. That solved it.
The uninstall tool removed Freedome as well (even as it wasn't ticked) so now we will need to sadly arrange another VPN too. Another bug. Note we have been forced to leave because of the recent upgrades and I will gladly go to EU if we don't get the money back. It was bought in EU we are definitely protected under strong consumer protection laws. We bought something that was falsely advertised (sold as one thing, but during the subscription we received something else)We cannot have an antivirus that is giving us hot computers.
RIP -
At the moment of uninstalling F-secure I did not tick uninstall the VPN and yes it was a choice. It was optional but it dis uninstall the VPN part Freedome anyway.
F-secure tells me this isn't a bug because they have been migrated sin march 2023 BUT we payed for 10 subscriptions and we paid them separately in November 2023.
Not exactly the same abuse as the abuse Microsoft was fined for several times but still abusive to sell us a product we couldn't know they were going to bundle and make the Internet Security part unusable by changing the motor to AVIRA and now when we unfortunatley are forced to leave after 26 years we cannot stay in only the VPN product which we bought separate.
When consumers are forced to take the second product and can’t remove it, switch, or easily use alternatives, it is seen by EU as anti-competitive. And this is what they do also here. And once as now has happend here one part in the bundle stops being usable (bc they changed what was bought to another anitirus motor another product we dis not buy) it has from the consumer perspective the unforeseeable consequence that the other paid for product is simply eliminated.
(The European Commission found that what Microsoft by bundling its Internet Explorer (IE) browser with Windows was abusive towards consumers by Limiting consumer choice and also limit competition. This made it harder for other companies to get users, investment, or traction. Microsoft was fined multiple times once they were fined €561 millions. Part of it was market position but part of it was consumer are hindered from using alternatives, it this is seen by EU as anti-competitive.) -
Imagine this: You've been a loyal BMW customer for 26 years. You walk into the dealership and buy another BMW — one with a BMW engine, as always — and you also purchase a trailer from the same seller. No surprises, no fine print. But then, without warning, the car you receive suddenly has a FIAT engine.
Not only were you never told about the switch, but the FIAT engine turns out to be completely substandard. It doesn’t perform like the BMW engine you paid for — in fact, it consumes 20% more fuel. It's inefficient, it's flawed, and worst of all, it's not what you agreed to buy.
When you raise the issue, you get no help. No solution, no replacement, no accountability. You fight — you spend your time, your energy, your patience — trying to get what you actually paid for. But you're met with silence and indifference. You’re told you can’t have it the way it was.
And as if that weren’t enough, the seller then comes back and says they’re taking the trailer away too — the one you paid for, the one that has nothing to do with the engine problem. Why? Just because they decided so. Unilaterally. Without reason, without warning.
Let me ask you this:
- Who would agree to a worse engine than the one they bought — one that burns 20% more fuel?
- Who would accept losing their trailer just because someone else suddenly changed their mind, long after the purchase?
I am truly flabbergasted. This isn’t just a poor customer experience — it’s a breach of trust, a denial of rights, and a blatant disregard for what was promised and paid for.
-
Whom are you defending here Jones - the abusive seller or the deceived client?
There are businesses that depends on trust and honesty (the one most people want to buy from) and also dishonest business those who opt to make money promising one thing then delivers another. This obviously can make them some extra but will make clients disappointed and those clients will not buy again and tell their friends. They might think reputation doesn't matter and that they can do this to gain some extra all the same, that they can to live with some deceived disappointed and angry clients leaving. Perhaps…but I for one wouldn't buy shares in a Company doing this to its clients. Its ugly. -
-
Well, how hard can it be? The customer, an always loyal one, did nothing at all. All the sudden just after the company (overtaken by the Avira Co I later realized) updated the software they bought and in a try to keep only one antivirus swapped out the antivirus in the one the client bought with the result just fine working computers at this very moment got the same whining from overheating from excessive CPU use problem. How on earth can this be blamed on the client? I understand they want to save money updating one antivirus motor only BUT they have NOT succeeded to give an equal or better product. Then they are not walking it back. They are not giving the option to downgrade. There is help and support but it apparently cannot fix what is beyond their level. So support are not to blame. They also cannot help that the uninstall program uninstall what is not ticked. There is nothing the user or the support can do (except refund). I had a smooth working antivirus program and relatively good VPN some 6 month ago. Now I don't and it is not my fault.

For Chromecast, have you tried setting your home network as trusted network via F-Secure Settings → VPN tab → Select networks ?
Regarding websites which have problems, could you give addresses of those sites and which VPN location you are connected when the issue occurred. Also give your public IP via while VPN is connected for example with F‑Secure IP Checker — Check your IP address and location | F‑Secure .
Sorry for your problems and thanks for the help. -
