Timeouts in loading web pages when using F-Secure VPN products This issue affects Windows and Mac versions of the F-Secure app and Freedome VPN.
Recent updates to several web browsers on Windows and Mac platforms have introduced the TLS 1.3 Hybridized Kyber feature, which is designed to improve cryptographic strength and security. However, this feature can cause compatibility issues with F-Secure VPN products that in turn cause web pages to time out while the VPN is connected.
Affected browsers:
- Google Chrome
- Microsoft Edge
- Brave Browser
- Mozilla Firefox (for some users only)
Our team is aware of the compatibility issues between the TLS 1.3 Hybridized Kyber feature and our VPN. We are actively working on a fix that allows the feature to function as intended without disrupting your web browsing while VPN is connected.
As a temporary solution to this problem, you can disable the TLS 1.3 Hybridized Kyber feature directly in your browser settings. This usually resolves the compatibility issue with our VPN products and restores normal loading times for web pages.
To disable the feature in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Brave:
- Type
chrome://flags
, edge://flags
, or brave://flags
(depending on the browser) in your browser's address bar. - Search for
TLS 1.3 hybridized Kyber support
. - Set the feature to
Disabled
. - Restart your browser to apply the changes.
To disable the feature in Mozilla Firefox:
- Enter
about:config
in your browser's address bar. - Search for the
security.tls.enable_kyber
setting. - Toggle the setting to disable it.
- Restart your browser to apply the changes.
