Installing Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime manually - F-Secure Community

Installing Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime manually
The Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is required when running web content directly inside applications on Windows. F-Secure products, such as F-Secure TOTAL (as of version 18.2), require the WebView2 Runtime to be able to show web page content directly inside the product.

Normally, during the installation of the F-Secure products, the network installer automatically tries to install the WebView2 Runtime if it is missing from the environment. If, however, the WebView2 Runtime initialization fails, the user gets an error message containing a link to information on how to install and update the WebView2 Runtime manually.

To install or update the WebView2 Runtime:

Go to page https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/.

Scroll down to section Evergreen Bootstrapper, select Download > Accept and Download.

Find the executable file in your Downloads folder, right-click it and select Run as administrator.

Enter your administrator credentials. The installation starts and is completed in the background.

Note: If the manual installation fails, check the error message. If you cannot solve the issue based on the error message, contact F-Secure support.
