What's new in the F-Secure app This article outlines important changes and features, as well as fixes released in the latest versions of the F-Secure app.

- Viruses & Threats
- The "Real-time protection off" warning can be dismissed permanently.
- The USB scan now detects also external hard drives.
- Secure Browsing
- The Trusted Shopping feature notifies you of fake and untrustworthy shopping websites; it shows whether a website is a safe shopping site or a scam. The trustworthiness is shown when:
- you hover the mouse over a search result rating icon.
- you enter a website that is categorized as "shopping". A small pop-up message indicates the trustworthiness of the site.
- you click on the Browsing Protection by F-Secure icon on the browser toolbar.
- Installation status of the browser extension is visible for each supported browser in the Secure Browsing view.
- Family Rules
- When installing the product for a child, at the end of the installation flow, the user is asked to install the desired browser extensions.
- Password Vault
- When you add a new password entry to Password Vault, the app automatically generates a strong, 16-character-long password for you.
- Privacy VPN
- The functionality of the latest locations list has been improved, and it is easier to use.
- Added an option to disable VPN connection notifications when the app is closed.
- General improvements
- The top bar with the user information as well as profile and task icons is now visible on every view.
- The Subscription view has been updated, allowing you to see all feature statistics at a single glance.
- User interface framework was updated from .NET 4.7.2 to .NET 6.0.
- .NET 6.0 is installed automatically during the update if it's missing.
- Fixed issues:

- The issue where Family Rules needed to be changed at least once after installation for the content filtering rules to take effect has now been resolved.
- The issue with Password Vault occasionally locking itself before reaching the user-set timer has been fixed.

- Viruses & Threats
- A manual scan can now be paused and resumed.

If a scheduled scan is missed, for example when the device is turned off at the scheduled time, it will be executed as soon as the device is turned on again. The scan is rescheduled for the earliest available time after the device is turned back on.
- A scheduled scan waits for the gaming mode to end before starting. If the gaming mode activates during a scheduled scan, the scan will be paused and resumed as soon as the gaming mode ends.
- Secure Browsing
- Password Vault
- Password Vault is now available also for child profiles.
- New Vault users are forced to use a strong master password. The same applies when existing users change their master password. The minimum length of a master password is now 12 characters.
- You can now select multiple Vault entries and delete them in one batch.
- We have improved Vault's usability. For example, if Vault is still empty, its landing page shows Add new password or Import passwords options.
- Privacy VPN
- The VPN bypass feature added. The selected applications can bypass Privacy VPN and connect to the internet directly. This is supported from 64-bit Windows 10, version 20H2 (build 19042), onwards.
- Information about virtual locations added to the Privacy VPN view.
- Statistics on protected internet traffic and blocked tracking cookies added to the Privacy VPN view.
- A notification is shown to the user, e.g. when the user closes the app with VPN turned on.
- Smart tasks
- Smart tasks added for both new and existing Password Vault users.
- Added smart tasks for enabling VPN, for captive portal detection, and for cases where the free VPN trial period has already been used.
- A smart task asking the user to log in added.
- The priority of smart tasks has been updated. Also, the smart task texts have been updated.
- General improvements
- The Account menu has been updated. It now contains information about the license inside the menu and a link to manage the account. The main view no longer has information about the subscription validity.
- The Subscription page has been updated. It now only contains a button to renew the subscription. The button to manage the account has been moved to the Account menu.
- Update delivery and signing system have been updated.
- Fixed issues:

- The issue with the command line scanner not working without elevation has been fixed.
- Localization issues in the Password Vault settings and the Privacy VPN view have been fixed.
- The issue where the main UI popped up with a smart task while gaming has been resolved.
- Removed features:

- Support for Windows 7. Installation and updates are blocked on Windows 7.
- Proxy configuration in Settings. Product now automatically uses Windows proxy if it is set up.

- Integrated Password Vault (F-Secure Total)
Note: This feature is only available if included in your subscription. - You can access your passwords in the product's main user interface.
- If you have the standalone ID PROTECTION product installed, you can migrate your passwords to the integrated Password Vault.
- After migrating your passwords, the standalone ID PROTECTION product will continue to work, but you can also uninstall it.
- Note that you can only configure the password manager browser extension to work with one product at a time.
- Password Vault browser extension improvements
- If credentials for the current website are available in Password Vault, you can access copying options via the extension's main icon.
- You can now search Password Vault credentials via the browser extension.
- You can save new website credentials directly from the browser to Password Vault.
- Integrated Virtual private network (VPN)
Note: This feature is only available if included in your subscription. - You can access your VPN settings from the product's main user interface.
- Encrypts your connection and protects your IP address online.
- You can change your virtual location.
- Killswitch basic functionality: cuts off internet access if the VPN connection is disrupted.
- You can set trusted networks.
- Automatic VPN connection after device restart.
- Tracking protection.
- VPN protocol selection.
- Ad blocker
- Prevents loading content from common advertising servers, improving you browsing experience.
- You can see the statistics of blocked ads on the Secure Browsing & Banking view.
- Website rating submission via browser extension menu
- You can suggest a new rating for websites that have no rating or have an incorrect rating.
- To access this feature, pin the Browsing Protection by F-Secure extension to your browser toolbar from your browser's extension menu.
- Visual and usability related improvements
- Unified feature icons across products.
- Visual progress and complete indicators for notifications in the main user interface.
- The following views now remember their size and position: main user interface, settings, event history, scan wizard, and help.
- The feature cards in the main user interface are now organized so that commonly used feature cards are higher.
- The "Turn off all protection" option has been added to the Secure Browsing & Banking view.
- Fixed issues:

- The issue where the Password Vault browser extension injected its iframe to web editor (such as WordPress) pages when editing them has been fixed.
