Issue:
I forgot my F-Secure ID Protection master password and I do not have recovery code, what can I do?
Resolution:
For your security, F-Secure cannot restore or reset your ID Protection Master Password. This has been a conscious decision by us to increase your security and privacy. Restoring a Master Password means we need access to your Master Password, and this could be a security risk.
You can only recover your master password using the Master Password recovery code. The Master Password Recovery Code is a unique and personal code that is the only means of regaining access to ID Protection, should you forget your Master Password. It is strongly encrypted and can only be decrypted on one of your connected devices. This means that it cannot be decrypted on any other user device.
The only option you have is to uninstall and re-install F-Secure ID Protection on your device. You will lose the passwords but can start a new one with the re-install. Find more detailed instructions for reinstalling F-Secure ID PROTECTION here.
Note: On Windows and Mac you need to uninstall F-Secure ID Protection with the Uninstallation tool, for more see instructions here:
If you have a recovery code:
If you are not sure of having saved a recovery code before, for Windows PC, you can check the Document folder, and search for RecoveryCode.png That is the default name unless you have changed and moved the folder elsewhere.
