Sense as a standalone Router

I dont want to have a double NAT, so can i use the Sense Router as a standalone ?

If i plug the Sense Router after the Router from my Provider, do i have to open  Ports in the Firewall to allow direct comumnication ?

Is the firmware of the sense router an own development or based on already existing like openwrt?

I ask because of the bad news from Wikileaks

    Hi _Stefan_,

As mentioned in this article, SENSE is compatible with most available Routers/Modems in the market. You can check this SENSE setup page under the 'options for connecting SENSE' for more information regarding the connection.

Regarding the firmware, I will get back to you with more information.
