What is 2-step verification in My F-Secure? This topic provides information about the 2-step verification feature in My F-Secure.
2-step verification is a feature that adds an extra layer of security to your My F-Secure account. This additional layer makes sure that no one can log in as you, even if that person has discovered your password.
When you or anyone else tries to log in to your account, 2-step verification asks you for the two things that only you know and have: your password and a unique security code. The security code you need is generated by using authentication software, such as Google Authenticator or Duo Mobile, which you can install on your mobile device from an app store.
When 2-step verification is enabled, a security code is needed every time you log in to your account. The mobile app provides this security code. The 2-step verification feature requires also a set of recovery codes that you can save separately. These codes ensure that you can access your account without the authentication app; for example, in the unfortunate event that you lose the mobile device that generates the security code.
