When I search up a popular site such as twitter I put https://twitter.com and when i click enter the https:// disappears and goes to twitter.com does this mean my router has been hijacked because avast said it has and I checked on the router checker on here and it said i’m clean but im questioning now.

    Hello,

When I search up a popular site such as twitter I put https://twitter.com and when i click enter the https:// disappears and goes to twitter.com

I think that it is depends on your chosen browser or browser's settings.

Some browsers can "hide" protocol (https or http) and show only domain name.

In general, it is possible to check whether it is configurable under browser's settings or not. Probably, "https" connection should be marked by certain color even if https is not visible under address bar.

Otherwise - it is possible to use any other browser where design is normal (and protocol is always visible). What is your OS / device? Does it desktop, laptop or mobile device?

does this mean my router has been hijacked because avast said it has and I checked on the router checker on here and it said i’m clean but im questioning now.

Perhaps, it is not an indicator of that. At least, there should be some more points if router has been hijacked.

What about "Avast" checks - there was a discussion where Avast wrongly marked router as hijacked router (kind of false positive).

What about F-Secure Router Checker - it is more about DNS servers that router tried to use. So, it show whether used DNS servers are known / safe or unknown / malicious.

Usually, DNS servers "in use" is from your Internet Security Provider. But it should be possible to use "alternative" DNS servers like Google DNS.

Rogue DNS servers are pretty "unknown" and can be suspicious during router checks.

In addition, some examples of discussion about troubles with routers:

    Thanks!
