Windows' User Account Control (UAC) prevents Booster from launching, and "This App has been blocked for your protection" error message is shown. This is a known issue. When you delete a file in Windows, the file is not permanently deleted, even after emptying the recycle bin. Windows simply marks the file as being deleted and allows it to be overwritten by other data. It can take a while before the data is actually overwritten. You can use the Prevent file recovery function to delete files permanently so that they can no longer be recovered by other people or programs. When you start to "shred" these files, it can take a long time as the size of the data can be quite large, and the software has to overwrite the data with random information to completely erase it. Known issues and limitations for Online Scanner 1. Online Scanner needs Internet connection When Online Scanner scans files and memory, it queries the file reputation system located in the Cloud. To be able to do that, Online Scanner needs a network connection with Internet access. 2. Windows XP: Online Scanner must be run under an Administrator account On Windows XP, Online Scanner must always be run under an Administrator account. It needs admin privileges to scan system memory and files. 3. Internet Explorer (IE) 8: Online Scanner doesn't start when Internet and local intranet security levels are set to High The Online Scanner user interface uses the functionality of an Internet Explorer Server object. To allow Online Scanner to operate, you must set IE settings to default: In the browser go to Tools > Internet options. Select the Security tab. Set Internet and Local intranet security levels to Medium. 4. IE 8: Online Scanner doesn't start in "offline" mode IE should be in its normal, "online" mode, otherwise Online Scanner cannot run. 5. Online Scanner doesn't install its DeepClean component on… encrypted drives (for example, BitLocker). Windows 8 systems with SecureBoot enabled. OS with software RAID array configured. 6. Online Scanner doesn't report infections found during file scanning on AV-protected systems When Online Scanner scans system files, it opens them one by one. These read operations can be interrupted by existing antivirus software installed in the system, and if the files are found infected, the antivirus software blocks and removes them before Online Scanner. In such cases, Online Scanner reports that no infection was found although the infection itself is successfully removed. 7. Checking Online Scanner functionality with Eicar test file Eicar test file is used to check if antivirus software file scanning is up and running. Online Scanner detects the traces malware leaves in the system: memory signatures, registry keys, system launch points, etc. Online Scanner does not think Eicar is a treat when it is simply stored as a file. To make Eicar look like malware, create a launch point: Store the file locally, e.g. as c:\windows\eicar.com. Create a random-named string variable in the registry under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run pointing to c:\windows\eicar.com. After that Online Scanner finds Eicar as a system-wide infection. 8. Running Online Scanner on Windows 8.1 when UAC is off When User Access Control is off (the lowest position of the slider in the UAC Settings dialog), non-admin user can't perform a scan at all even if she runs it as an administrator. Online Scanner terminates the scan and shows an error. To make it running, set UAC on. 9. Online Scanner and ASUS AI Suite 3 If ASUS AI Suite 3 is running when Online Scanner scans the memory, system may freeze. To workaround the issue, stop ASUS AI Suite 3 for the time of the scan. 10. Online Scanner does not start when IE is set to use proxy for local connections Online Scanner does not start when proxy PAC file does not specify to use direct connection for connections to local host. 11. Online Scanner does not start when Windows XP has IP filtering enabled Some malware families are known to use a filter-hook driver to block security applications from running. In such a situation, you may need to turn off the IP filter driver service to be able to run Online Scanner. Use the following command in the command prompt to turn off IP filter driver service: net stop ipfilterdriver 12. Online Scanner does not start when there are registry remnants of the previous execution Sometimes, if an execution of Online Scanner fails, some registry settings are left behind. After that, all attempts to run Online Scanner will fail. As a workaround, delete the registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\F-Secure Antibot" to resolve the problem.

Question How do I delete unwanted large files from my device? Answer You can free up your device’s storage by deleting unwanted large files from your disk space. Open the F-Secure Booster Tap Clean up storage. Tap Large files. Move the slider (default 2MB) to a size you consider to be a large file size. For example, if you set the slider to 20MB, all files with 20MB and greater is listed. Tap on the file(s) you want to delete. Your selected files are then highlighted in yellow. Tap on the Clean up storage button at the bottom of the screen to delete the selected files.

Answer With F-Secure Booster, you can speed up your device's performance by closing unnecessary processes running in the background to clear up your device’s memory. The activation fails with the following error message: "Unfortunately, the F-Secure service is not available. Please try again later." Diagnosis This may occur when the TLS protocols for the Internet are not enabled. This is due to Microsoft removing SSL support along with Windows XP. Solution To enable the TLS protocols: Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options.
