Internet Security 2012 Beta (R38) released

Hi all,

just few minutes ago we released the new R38 version of the IS2012 Beta with following new features:

  • Mozilla Firefox 5 is now supported by F-Secure Online Safety
  • Access to F-Secure Health Check is added as own item to launch pad (thank you for this idea to all the Beta users that suggested it)
  • Online Safety Blocklist feature allows you to block specific pages in web filter
  • Quarantined items are imported from previous generation IS installation when upgrading to this release.
  • F-Secure privacy policy is readable during installation. For this release the privacy policy is available only in English.

Release includes also lot of bug fixes which are more detailed listed in the release notes at  http://download.f-secure.com/beta/fstp/tpreleasenotes.rtf .

Like in previous releases, all the existing installations will receive this F-Secure Internet Security 2012 Beta R38 release as an automatic upgrade. If you want to get the upgrade fast, you will need to press "Check now" once, otherwise it will come in next 6 hours available.

PS. If you want to join the IS2012 beta program, you can apply to it at:
http://www.f-secure.com/en_EMEA-Labs/beta-programs/home-users-beta/IS2012beta/index.html

PS.. Based on the statistics from the new beta system some 5% of the beta users are having a slow system or even hangs after installing the IS2012 Beta. Many of you uninstall the product immediately and then just report the issue. In these cases it is very hard for us to solve the problems, as these tend to be hardware / driver / other conflicting software related issues. And we cannot reproduce this kind of issues in house, as we cannot have all the possible windows hardware to test Smiley Sad.

We've now added few workaround items to release notes that could help in these situations. If possible could you try them out before uninstalling the product, please. And please try to run the support tool before uninstalling the product and send the created fsdiag.gz with the bug report to us. This will help a lot in trying to fix these problems.

    Thank you for this release.

THe PC Health check shows IS 2011 and not 2012, just a minor incident...no slowdowns so far.

    Cheers Smiley Wink

I've been having some of the slowdowns, windows explorer crashing on startup issues, but I haven't uninstalled.  Even on the update it hung on "upgrading" for an hour and I gave up and restarted.  Update seems to have gone through ok.
