Re: Help me uninstall F-Secure

Hello,

Sorry for my reply.

-> What F-Secure solution there?

F-Secure SAFE/IS/AV, F-Secure Freedome or some other F-Secure solutions?

-> Does your system's troubles based on F-Secure (and you want to remove it)? Or just after troubles with system - you have to uninstall F-Secure for proper reinstalling?

-> Does there Windows OS or MacOS? Or some mobile-platforms?

General suggestions - if you able to boot system (and for Windows, as example):

- open Control Panel (uninstall/install software);

- choose F-Secure solution under the list -> rightclick -> uninstall confirmation;

- after that reboot;

- run F-Secure Uninstall Tool;

- if there required -> manual cleaning for remaining folders with "F-Secure"-name under system (or/and additional registry clean up);

Knowledgebase articles for uninstalling F-Secure SAFE for Windows:

-> Common uninstallation -> https://community.f-secure.com/t5/F-Secure-SAFE/How-do-I-uninstall-SAFE-on-my-PC/ta-p/15384

-> F-Secure Uninstall tool -> https://community.f-secure.com/t5/Common-topics/How-do-I-uninstall-F-Secure/ta-p/77915

If there another platform/solution - you able to re-check such knowledgebase articles - if some of them can be useful:

https://community.f-secure.com/t5/forums/searchpage/tab/message?advanced=false&allow_punctuation=fal...

Or just back with reply about "more information".

Sorry for my reply.

Thanks!

Re: Help me uninstall F-Secure

Ok,

Does it.. so called.. FS Protection for Mac?

Or there can be F-Secure XFENCE?

-> If second one beta: there was such topic (where placed some advices/steps for uninstalling - if common steps not work):

https://community.f-secure.com/t5/Home-Security/Xfence-bricked-boy-Mac/td-p/93839

Maybe you able to re-check this topic about XFENCE and some official responses.

-> If there FS Protection for Mac (which should be as F-Secure SAFE beta):

Since I not really friendly with MacOS: most likely that there should be some of default options (common for all applications). If such steps not work... there possible to use F-Secure Uninstall Tool for Mac:

https://community.f-secure.com/t5/Common-topics/How-do-I-uninstall-F-Secure/ta-p/77916

------------------------

If there something else - just re-ask about!

Also if such points/suggestions do not work - also back with reply.

Maybe there will be suggestions from more experienced with Mac users.

Or some official responses from F-Secure team (later);

Also there possible to try F-Secure direct Support Channels as Chat or Phone:

https://www.f-secure.com/en/web/home_global/contact-support

Thanks.

Re: Help me uninstall F-Secure

Hey,

I know it's a lot to ask in the scenario where one's machine is completely unusable but please keep reporting bugs (best if with logs) so similar issues might in the future be avoided on other fellow testers' machines

Re: Help me uninstall F-Secure

The recommended way of uninstalling the product is running the "Uninstall fs protection" tool in the "Applications/fs protection" folder.

If that doesn't work, open the Terminal application and type "sudo

/usr/local/f-secure/bin/uninstall_MacProtection" and press enter and then type in your password when prompted, pressing enter again.

If that also doesn't work, see the suggestions posted by Ukko, but if you're still having problems, please let me know and we'll sort it out.

Re: Help me uninstall F-Secure

the de-install tool does not work, it gives me a message that I must disable X-Fence first, but does not tell me how to do this. I do not want to go into to Terminal. I went to Support for X-fence but they have not replied. Can you explain to me how to disable X-Fence?

Hello,

Do you able to re-check this topic (?):

https://community.f-secure.com/t5/Home-Security/Xfence-bricked-boy-Mac/td-p/93839

It was with some common steps and some attached files (including uninstall-script and kind of "guide");

Does steps/advices from topic not helpful with your experience?

Spoiler

As general quote from User-guide for F-Secure XFENCE:

Uninstalling F-Secure XFENCE

To uninstall F-Secure XFENCE, first disable it from the menu bar, and then run the following command:

sudo bash /Library/XFENCE/uninstall.sh

 Once you’ve run this, reboot the computer. Note that you cannot perform this operation unless F-Secure XFENCE has been disabled, for obvious reasons. You may also wish to delete your rules on the system, which can be found in /Users/Shared/F-Secure XFENCE/.

 Sorry, did not notice that you do not want to go into to Terminal (which also required with default uninstall steps from spoiler).

And just for "disabling" - with guide from this reply available part as ""Disabling F-Secure XFENCE""  - where not described any certain steps. I not really friendly with MacOS, but I can to think that it probably means.. that "disabling" (as quite/exit/disable/turn off) from menu bar -> should be something, which work for all MacOS applications. And it should be common step.

Thanks.
