How do I know if F-Secure FREEDOME VPN protection is working on my computer or mobile device? Can I verify it somehow?
When F-Secure FREEDOME VPN protection is enabled, your internet gets routed through the location you have selected in the FREEDOME user interface. Since your internet connection is routed, your true location is hidden. The web pages and services you connect you only see the IP address of the FREEDOME location you are connected to. You can verify that the protection is working by following these steps:
Ensure that the Freedome VPN protection is OFF Use an internet search engine to find a "What is my IP" service. With the service you can see your current IP address and ISP info Turn ON the Freedome, and select any of virtual location of your choice and verify that you are connected Visit the "What is my IP" service again to check your new current IP address and ISP info. You should see a new address, one that corresponds with your VPN and the location you have selected

I use F-Secure Freedome and use a virtual location which is nowhere near me. When I do a search, it still shows me the city I am located in. Does Freedome leak this or what's the reason for this?
This location in the bottom of the Google search page is actually based on your past activity (as it's stated next to the location). So basically, if you search for local places (local services, streets, events etc.) it will offer you the location mentioned. This is because of web history, cache & cookies that are saved while you surf the internet, as the web sites use the saved information to personalize your visit. If you clear the browsing history, cache and cookies in the web browser or use an incognito tab, you may find that the location will change.

Make sure that there are no typos in the code and that the code you are trying to use is in form XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. Also check, that the program on the device where you're trying to insert the code is F-Secure FREEDOME VPN, and not any of our other programs. If you have bought F-Secure TOTAL, you need to activate your order by logging in with your My F-Secure credentials. If the code is still not accepted, contact your reseller or F-Secure support. All plans include unlimited data transfer between the device using FREEDOME and our VPN servers, as well as protection for up to the listed number of devices, including PC, Mac, Android, and iOS (platform restrictions apply if you buy the service from Apple App Store or Google Play Store). Observe that F-Secure FREEDOME uses existing networks to establish the VPN connection, so any data transfer caps or costs related to a connection you own will also apply when using FREEDOME . F-Secure FREEDOME is not a substitute for internet services provided by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) or mobile operators.

When F-Secure FREEDOME VPN connection is on, my internet connection is very slow. With the connection off, connection and speed is normal.
A certain decrease in network speed is to be expected when running any VPN-solution due to the different way the web traffic is being handled. You can refer to the following community article for more information about this subject. If the connection speed for some reason would crawl to a halt, you can try these steps:
Resetting your network router. Try FREEDOME with a different network connection to make sure it is not a router issue. Try to temporarily disable any antivirus that you have running (for example Panda Security has been known to cause slowness in the FREEDOME VPN connection). Reinstall FREEDOME. On Windows do DNS flush. On Mac clear local DNS cache. Delete the existing WiFi profile, and re-connect to the network once again.
If the issue continues, gather FREEDOME logs, and take speed tests with FREEDOME On, and Off, and contact our customer support.
