How do I know if F-Secure FREEDOME VPN protection is working on my computer or mobile device? Can I verify it somehow?
When F-Secure FREEDOME VPN protection is enabled, your internet gets routed through the location you have selected in the FREEDOME user interface. Since your internet connection is routed, your true location is hidden. The web pages and services you connect you only see the IP address of the FREEDOME location you are connected to. You can verify that the protection is working by following these steps:
Ensure that the Freedome VPN protection is OFF Use an internet search engine to find a "What is my IP" service. With the service you can see your current IP address and ISP info Turn ON the Freedome, and select any of virtual location of your choice and verify that you are connected Visit the "What is my IP" service again to check your new current IP address and ISP info. You should see a new address, one that corresponds with your VPN and the location you have selected

I use F-Secure Freedome and use a virtual location which is nowhere near me. When I do a search, it still shows me the city I am located in. Does Freedome leak this or what's the reason for this?
This location in the bottom of the Google search page is actually based on your past activity (as it's stated next to the location). So basically, if you search for local places (local services, streets, events etc.) it will offer you the location mentioned. This is because of web history, cache & cookies that are saved while you surf the internet, as the web sites use the saved information to personalize your visit. If you clear the browsing history, cache and cookies in the web browser or use an incognito tab, you may find that the location will change.

I have bought F-Secure FREEDOME VPN through Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Is it possible to install it on a device that uses a different Operating System?
When you purchase F-Secure FREEDOME from an application store such as Google Play Store or Apple App Store, you cannot install those licenses to any other platform, such as MacOS or Windows PC. As an example, if you bought FREEDOME from Google Play Store, you can only install that to other Android devices with the same Google account ID. This license cannot be installed to iOS, Mac or Windows devices. Similarly with a Apple App Store purchase, it can only be installed to other iOS devices with the same Apple ID, not to Android, Mac or Windows devices.

F-Secure FREEDOME VPN Tracker Mapper does not show tracking attempts
F-Secure FREEDOME does not block any tracking from HTTPS traffic, because that would require a man-in-the-middle attack against the HTTPS, and the related security risks outweigh the possible privacy gains. FREEDOME only prevents HTTP traffic, and may sites these days use HTTPS traffic. You can read more here. To make sure FREEDOME is working, you can check your IP address when FREEDOME is on. If FREEDOME does not mask your IP and is not showing tracking attempts from HTTP traffic, then please try the following:
Check that Tracker Mapper is on Uninstall and reinstall Contact the customer support

When searching for something on Google when F-Secure FREEDOME VPN protection is on, Google is all the time asking me to prove I'm not a robot and I have to answer a CAPTCHA. Why is this?
That's normal when you use F-Secure FREEDOME or any other VPN. This is because F-Secure FREEDOME VPN servers are used by several users at the same time. This means that you are not the only user to submit requests to the Google search engine. Google interprets that your IP address / device sends multiple search requests at the same time (this creates a suspicious effect on the search engine). With CAPTCHA, Google makes sure that you are not a robot or a computer program that sends multiple requests for search or spam.

The latest versions of Windows 10 have got a new security feature called Memory Integrity in the Device security > Core isolation settings.
Enabling this setting improves the security of a Windows device by preventing potentially malicious code from accessing high-security processes on the computer.
However, on older Intel processors (generation 6 or earlier), this security feature causes a clear drop in the performance, as the feature has not been optimized for these processors.
This drop in performance dramatically affects the download speed of VPN products such as FREEDOME. This feature is not recommended for computers with these processors.
Intel processors from generation 7 onwards are better optimized for this feature and do not suffer from this drop in performance.
F-Secure FREEDOME VPN protection does not turn on when connected to a home wireless network (WiFi) with an Apple iOS device (IPhone or IPad). Protection is able to be turned on when using a mobile data internet connection.
F-Secure Freedome VPN uses the IPSec VPN standard on Apple IOS devices. Some home routers have the IPSec VPN Passthrough feature disabled by default and this will make Freedome VPN unable to connect to the FREEDOME VPN Server. To solve the issue, please consult your network router documentation and follow the specific instructions for your router how to enable the IPSec VPN Passthrough feature.
