FREEDOME installation fails on a computer with a ZoneAlarm
If you have a ZoneAlarm firewall installed on your PC, this causes your FREEDOME installation to fail. A FREEDOME error message stating Something went wrong may appear, or FREEDOME may request a reboot during installation.
This happens, as the ZoneAlarm firewall blocks the FREEDOME TAP network driver to be installed. This applies to both new FREEDOME installations, as well as upgrades.
Uninstall the ZoneAlarm firewall.
After ZoneAlarm is uninstalled, turn on the Windows firewall (this is highly recommended).
Install FREEDOME again.
Note: Disabling ZoneAlarm does not prevent this issue.
Once FREEDOME is installed on the computer, ZoneAlarm can be reinstalled. However, with the next FREEDOME upgrade, the same issue will occur again.
