F-Secure Freedome may get disconnected on some iOS devices


You recognize this connection problem from the following symptoms:

  • The VPN function is off; there is no VPN icon visible on the device status bar.
  • The device is without Internet connection; no traffic is sent in nor out.
  • The Freedome app shows that the protection is OFF and suggests you to check the settings manually.


Due to a bug in iOS (Apple bug ID 16109161), Freedome VPN may get disconnected on some iOS devices. Fortunately this problem occurs quite randomly and not on all devices.


To recover from this problem, remove the VPN profile in the device settings and turn the protection back on in the Freedome app. The problem can be fixed also by restarting the device.
