Question I just bought a license from F-Secure eStore but Mobile Security claims that the license is about to expire. Why? Answer This  happens probably because you have used a trial version of the application and subscribed to the full version when the trial period was expiring. For the trial period a unique subscription key was generated. After the trial, you have to enter the subscription key that you received when buying the full version.   If you purchased the license from other sources, a new subscription key was generated. The Mobile Security application is still using the old subscription key, so you need to activate the application with the new subscription key. You can do in the following way:   Open the application. On the lower part of the user interface, tap Subcsribe. The Subscription window is shown. Tap Enter key, enter your key and tap OK.

Question I am unable to connect to the update server and/or activate F-Secure Mobile Security. What can I do? Answer The error message generally states that F-Secure Mobile Security does not have the required connection to the update/validation server. This is probably caused by incorrect network settings. In some rare cases, the operator (your service provider) has restricted the connection. Another reason for the failure could be date settings that are significantly incorrect.   To troubleshoot the connection: Make sure the SIM card has been inserted into your device. You can still use Wi-Fi connection to activate. Check that the date settings of your phone are correct. Try connecting by using your operator's Internet access point. If there is no Internet AP defined, create one with the following frequently used values: Connection name: Internet  Access Point Name: Internet To test the connectivity with your mobile browser, try accessing the following site: https://msp.f-secure.com/web-test/common/test.html If you cannot access the test page with your mobile browser, the network settings of your phone are incorrect. You can use the HTC “How-tos” site to get the correct connection settings from the URL: http://www.htc.com/www/howto.aspx?p_id=283&id=8&f=t. You can also ask your local operator for the correct network settings.

Question I was prompted to enter a security code when trying to change the settings for Parental Control. What should I do? Answer The security code refers to the code that you set during the configuration wizard or when setting up Anti-Theft. Once a valid security code is entered, changes to the Parental Control settings are accepted.   When Parental Control is in use, you have to enter the security code always when trying to access any settings. When Parental Control is disabled, the security code will not be prompted for other settings except for Anti-Theft.

Question I get the following error message: "Unable to transfer subscription to this device". What should I do? Answer This error message is displayed when the update server cannot authenticate the subscription with this device. The reason for this authentication failure is that there have been more than three attempts to move the Mobile Security installation and service subscription to another device. After three device changes, the subscription will not activate in a new device. If you need to transfer the subscription more than three times, contact support.

Question Can I use the same license with another device? Answer The license is device-specific. You cannot use the same license in two devices at the same time. If the same subscription key is used when activating a new setup, the license is transferred to the new setup. You can transfer the license to another phone up to three times. After three transfers the subscription key will no longer activate in a new device.   The subscription is also verified during the reputation update check. If you are using the same subscription key in two devices, the subscription key will be locked to the last device after three updates.

Question Why was I prompted for a security code when trying to launch an application? Answer Mobile Security monitors and controls the uninstallation of applications installed on the device. Hence, if an application has permission to uninstall an application, Mobile Security will prompt the user for the security code. This is the same security code that you entered during the configuration wizard or in the Anti-Theft or Parental Control settings.   In addition to controlling application uninstallation, Mobile Security with Parental Control feature also monitors and controls over application shutdown. If an application has permission to kill background processes, Mobile Security will prompt the user for the security code.

Question Why is Safe Browser set as the default browser? Answer Safe Browser is set as the default browser when Parental Control is enabled. Only then can we protect you against malicious web sites, such as phishing sites, and identity theft. For example, many phishing messages come as a link in an e-mail or SMS message, and the operating system opens these messages in the default browser as soon as the link is clicked by the user.   This article in other languages: Finnish, Swedish, German, French, Japanese, Italian, Danish, Norwegian, Dutch, Polish

Question How can I wipe my Android device remotely? Answer If you have lost your mobile device or it has been stolen, you can delete all the information stored in your device to prevent anyone from accessing it. This requires, however, that you have set up the remote Anti-Theft.   When you wipe your device, Anti-Theft deletes all your personal information stored in the device. The information cannot be restored once it has been wiped.   The remote wipe performs the factory reset, which removes all user data from the device’s memory. All system folders, internal memory cards and drives, and external memory cards are wiped. With memory cards, the remote wipe breaks the index table because, for example, it may take a long time to wipe a large memory card. When you try to access the wiped memory card with the broken index table, you are asked to format it. As memory cards are easy to remove from the device, we recommend that you store all valuable data in the device memory.   To wipe your mobile device remotely:   Send the following SMS message to your device: #WIPE#<security code> (Example: #WIPE#abcd1234 ). When the device is wiped, all data stored on it is removed.    This article in other languages: Finnish, Swedish, German, French, Japanese, Italian, Danish, Norwegian, Dutch, Polish
