Automatic updates are turned on as soon as you install the F-Secure product. When your computer is connected to the internet, the product checks for new virus definition updates every two hours and downloads the daily updates automatically.
The entire update package is quite large, and the download time depends on the speed of your internet connection. If your computer has not been turned on in the last seven days, the entire update package will be downloaded and installed, and this takes longer than the normal daily updates.
Note: To make the download as fast as possible, we recommend that you connect your computer to the internet at least once a week if possible.
To check the latest (last performed) updates:
Right-click the product icon in the system tray, and select Open settings.
The Settings page opens.
From the left navigation, select Updates.
Under Connection, you can see the time of the last update check and its success.
To check for the latest updates manually, select Check now. Note that this check upgrades also the latest security product version to your device if it has been released but has not yet been installed on your device.
Under Update history, you can view the latest updates installed for individual scanning engines available in the product. You can see the engine names and the version of their latest updates as well as the date and time of the update. Note that the update package with the highest version number is not necessarily the latest update that has been downloaded.
Tip: You can quickly check for updates also by right-clicking the product icon in the system tray and selecting Check for updates. The product checks for new updates and installs them immediately.
