F-Secure SAFE or Internet Security says "Computer is not protected"

Issue:

When opening F-Secure SAFE or F-Secure Internet Security, I get an error "Computer is not protected". It also tells me to restart the device.

Resolution:

There are a number of reasons why your F-Secure security product (F-Secure SAFE or F-Secure Internet Security) is reporting "Computer is not protected":

  • Computer is pending a restart after a Windows or product update
  • The product is not able to download the latest definition from F-Secure servers
  • The product is malfunctioning

Follow the steps below one by one, and check after each step to see if it resolved the issue:
  1. Restart the computer.
    • After restarting the computer, open the F-Secure SAFE or F-Secure Internet Security and check if the issue is resolved.
  2. Check Windows updates
    • If needed, run the updates
  3. Perform a manual update on the product. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
    1. Open F-Secure SAFE or Internet Security.
    2. Click Tools.
    3. Click Check for updates.
  4. Re-start F-secure SAFE/Internet Security
    1. Open F-Secure SAFE or Internet Security.
    2. Click Tools
    3. Click Turn off protection features
    4. Re-start PC
  5. Uninstall and reinstall the product. It may be malfunctioning.
