Activation of Mobile Security or F-Secure SAFE for Android fails in error ACTIVATION_TYPE_SMS


The user has uninstalled the F-Secure Mobile Security or F-Secure SAFE for Android product and is trying to install the latest version of the product from Google Play store. As soon as the user tries to activate the product, the ACTIVATION_TYPE_SMS error message is displayed on the device.


Once the product is installed and activated, we send an activation SMS message to the user. However, if the user still has the old activation message in his message box, the activation of the new version fails, and the above error message is displayed.


To fix the issue:

  1. Delete the old activation message from your device.
  2. Try to activate the new version again.
