Browsing Protection browser extensions are missing after web browser reinstallation

Symptoms

Note: This article is only applicable if you have Protection Service for Business (PSB) Workstation Security or Client Security (CS) installed on your computer.

The browser extensions for Browsing Protection appear to be missing on the web browser in use (Chrome, Firefox or IE).

Diagnosis

After reinstalling your web browser or installing a new web browser, the browser extensions for Browsing Protection do not get automatically installed.

Solution

To restore Browsing Protection on the web browser in use, or to install Browsing Protection on another web browser, manually reinstall or install the browsing extensions for Browsing Protection.

  1. In the file manager, go to the F-Secure installation folder:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\F-Secure\NIF\bin\browser\install\ 
    In this location, there are 3 different web browser folders: Chrome, Firefox, and IE
  2. Open up the folder for the web browser you need; for example, for Chrome (Windows), the file is: fs_chrome_https.crx; for Chrome (Mac), the file name is: browsing-protection.chromeextension.crx
  3. Drag and drop the .crx file to the specific browser extensions page, and the file gets installed.
Browsing Protection is now reinstalled/installed on your web browser.
