macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) compatibility issue with SAFE for Mac
After upgrading macOS to 10.13 (High Sierra), the F-Secure menu bar app (F-icon) may not start. This causes notifications to stop working. Detected malware or software upgrades are therefore not notified, although malware detection itself is still working normally. As software upgrade notifications stop working, SAFE does not get upgraded, unless this is done manually.
This is a macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) compatibility issue with SAFE for Mac (17.0 and earlier).
After the High Sierra upgrade, you can do the following to enable the F-icon in the menu bar:
- Go to System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items
- Press the + button to add a login item.
/Applications/F-Secure/F-Secure SAFE and press Add.
After this, log out and back in again, then check if the F-icon appears in the menu bar.
We are releasing the next software version (17.1) soon, which is the first version to support High Sierra and contains a fix for this issue.
