Unable to install F-Secure TOTAL, Internet Security or FREEDOME VPN. Error related to Windows 10/11 "S mode" - F-Secure Community
<main> <article class="userContent"> <h3 data-version="6" data-article="000015399" data-id="issue">Issue:</h3> <p></p><ul><li>When I run the F-Secure application installer I receive the followng error: <i>For security and performance Windows 10/11 in S mode runs Microsoft verified apps...To get this app you need to switch out of S mode or find a similar app in the store.</i></li><li>Why am I unable to install F-Secure application on my computer in Windows 10/11 S mode?</li></ul><h3 data-id="resolution">Resolution:</h3> <p>Windows 10/11 in S Mode is a more limited, locked-down Windows operating system. In S Mode you can only install apps from the Store and you can only browse the web with Microsoft Edge. F-Secure products are not available in Microsoft App store, so you need to get out of the S mode to use our products.<br><br>If you purchase a PC in S Mode, you can leave S Mode for free. It doesn’t cost anything, but it is a <u>one-time decision</u> — once you’ve taken the PC out of S Mode, you can never put it back into S Mode.<br> <br></p><h3 data-id="how-to-check-if-you-re-using-s-mode">How to Check If You’re Using S Mode</h3> <p>You can check whether you’re using S Mode by heading to <b>Settings > System > About</b>. On the About page, scroll down to the “Windows Specifications” section.</p> <p>If you see the words “in S mode” to the right of the Edition entry, you’re using an S Mode PC.
