<main> <article class="userContent"> <p> </p>FREEDOME VPN installation fails on a computer with a ZoneAlarm firewall <p> This topic explains what to do if FREEDOME VPN installation fails on a PC with ZoneAlarm firewall. </p> <h3 data-id="symptoms">Symptoms</h3> <p>If you have a ZoneAlarm firewall installed on your PC, this causes your FREEDOME VPN installation to fail. A FREEDOME VPN error message stating "Something went wrong" may appear, or FREEDOME VPN may request a reboot during installation. </p> <h3 data-id="diagnosis">Diagnosis</h3> <p>The reason for this is that the ZoneAlarm firewall blocks the installation of the FREEDOME TAP network driver. This applies to both new FREEDOME VPN installations and upgrades. </p> <h3 data-id="solution">Solution</h3> <div>To work around the issue: <ol><li>Uninstall the ZoneAlarm firewall. </li> <li>After ZoneAlarm is uninstalled, we strongly recommend that you turn on the Windows firewall. </li> <li>Install FREEDOME VPN again. </li> </ol></div> <p><strong>Note:</strong> If you just disable ZoneAlarm, it will not prevent this issue from occurring. </p> <p>Once FREEDOME VPN is installed on the computer, ZoneAlarm can be reinstalled.
