  • I did a test on a command-line utility I have that connects to the Internet. It was previously allowed, so I deleted it from the DeepGuard settings. When launched I got a DeepGuard prompt. The block option was pre-set. I clicked the red X in the top right to close the window. The DeepGuard prompt appeared again. I closed…
  • Thanks. So there's no way of keeping the DeepGuard injections and exclude it only for some programs? Like excluding files from scanning but for DeepGuard injection instead. That's what I prefer. I don't like having to disable ALL DeepGuard injections just because a few of them are incompatible with EMET. BTW, a new EMET…
  • Thank you Jouni! (for both answers) So I assume excluding files is preferred over enabling compatibility mode for DeepGuard then. But I'm confused as I thought executable files can't be excluded and will be scanned anyway. It even says so in the link you posted.
  • Thanks @Ville Great answers :) I feel I should already know this but I don't. I think the problem here is the lack of release notes to cover all important changes. It's not the first time I mention this but I haven't seen an improvement. All F-Secure software should have release notes or changelogs available IMO.…
  • I believe this will answer your 4 questions: When a new object, such as a file or URL, is encountered on one client, the product communicates with the Security Cloud using the strongly encrypted Object Reputation Service Protocol (ORSP) to query for the object’s reputation details. Anonymous metadata about the object, such…
  • Same document as I linked to @Ville I know there's been an option to opt out of submitting files, as also mentioned in the AV comparatives report a linked to, but I can't find it anymore. Has that changed in the 2015 version? From the help file I found this: "You can submit individual suspicious applications manually when…
  • Thank you Ben I didn't notice the updated Scanner Manager before but now that you mention it that sounds very likely to be the reason to my problem. Yesterday I started my PC at 15:27, then a restart cause of the malfunction, and then a cold boot to see if everything was ok. I only noted the Not Installed ones for that…
  • Test of spoiler tag: Spoiler (Highlight to read)Text inside spoiler New lineText inside spoilerNew line Something's changed with the Spoiler tag. If you press Enter for a new line it creates a new spoiler instead. Very annoying! Use Shift+Enter to get around it.
  • Thanks for the input. Regarding DeepGuard I've always got the prompt immediately when starting a new program version the first time, or when a new program version makes its first connection. So I wonder if something's changed in DeepGuard recently to cause this delay? If so, it's bad. Most of my programs I only use myself…
  • Try this: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/272460-programs-uninstall-using-command-prompt-windows.html FYI, booting to Safe Mode skips the Run and RunOnce registry keys. When booting to Safe Mode with Command Prompt it also skips the Winlogon Shell. Might explain why only command prompt works.
  • Thanks for the input guys! I've checked and nothing has been installed or updated except definitions for FS and MBAM. If it was some kind of overload or loading conflict, I wonder why it happened all of a sudden. Especially when I haven't experienced anything like this before. I hope to get a response from someone from…
  • @DomB , regarding the lack of OEM CD, there are other solutions as long as your PC is running fine at the moment. I suggest you get an external USB hard drive (NTFS formatted) to store the system images on. If your PC supports USB 3 then that's preferred because it's faster. To use Windows own backup/restore: 1. Create a…
  • Right click the F-Secure systray icon and select "Open common settings". In the left pane click Privacy. There you can opt out from the Security Cloud. For more information you can click the Help button or go to Security Cloud As it says on that screen, you contribute anonymous data to further improve the service. To…
  • Thanks! With my post pace lately it'll probably take some time, but I'll try to step it up
  • Great job Simon! You seem to be the only one of the top posters that still keeps helping out here every day, even though you've been here longer than most others. Keep up the good work :) And nice to get faces to names. Thanks F-Secure team!
  • You can think of a subscription as the subscription key, and a license as a computer. A subscription can have one or more licenses connected to it. So every license within the subscription will have the same expire date because they share the same subscription key. A subscription is simply a group of licenses(or a single…
  • Regarding the Not Connected, I rarely check that but I've noticed it too. Not often, but it has happened. I think it's only a temporary connection problem and will sort itself out eventually. I've never rebooted or re-installed to fix it. Only been patient and waited for it to fix itself. I've noticed the settings have…
  • I thought about that too. Well, we'll soon find out. Nice to see you back here
  • It's explained here: http://community.f-secure.com/t5/F-Secure/Unsigned-Freedome-profile-in/ta-p/60929
  • FYI, the Safe Browsing protection by Google is not only a feature in Chrome. Firefox and Safari uses this Google service too. It can be turned off if you don't want it for example for privacy reasons. In Firefox settings, Security: - Block reported attack sites - Block reported web forgeries
  • Contact support: http://www.f-secure.com/en/web/home_global/support/support-request and attach an FSDIAG file. Download it from ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/support/tools/fsdiag/ Extract the zip file and run the EXE inside it. Also make sure these downloaded files aren't blocked. Right click and select properties to find out,…
  • Here: ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/support/tools/uitool/ Make sure IOBit is fully removed. It's been known to cause problems and even to do more harm than good from what I've heard. The company is highly questionable: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/29681-iobit-steals-malwarebytes-intellectual-property/
  • Could something just download from just being on a site for a few seconds? Yes. Here's a couple of links that explains "drive-by downloads": https://www.comodo.com/resources/home/newsletters/nov-10/ask-geekbuddy.php http://blogs.sophos.com/2014/03/26/how-malware-works-anatomy-of-a-drive-by-download-web-attack-infographic/…
  • About SAS, you probably forgot the enter http:// at the beginning.
  • I don't use Chrome but I sometimes use their Safe Browsing Diagnostic Page manually. In this case you'll find it here: http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=www.texilaconnect.com Apparently some content on ibpstoday.com come from this site and Safe Browsing will therefor warn you about it because it thinks…
  • Also note this: F-Secure cannot guarantee the best protection and performance for customers running Windows XP after April 8th, 2014. This is because malware can use vulnerabilities in the operating system that are no longer fixed by Microsoft.…
  • Just upgraded your computer and you have XP?! Guess you mean hardware... For XP you need Service Pack 3, so make sure you have that. Here are troubleshooting steps for a failed installation: http://community.f-secure.com/t5/Security-for-PC/Internet-Security-installation/ta-p/52299
  • The only program I'm aware of that's named Paint.NET is by dotPDN and not Microsoft. It's home page is http://www.getpaint.net/ About Process Explorer, if you don't launch that as Administrator (or use the File menu option "Show Details for All Processes") not all processes will show a description and Company Name. You…
  • You're most welcome! Regarding zip files I have to correct my self, they are also scanned when downloaded manually. So how you got the file without manually downloading it is a little worrying. Here's a nice tip I use almost every day because it's a very fast way to check all running processes: How to easily scan all…
  • Well, you can follow these instructions to verify that your protection works. You assume after installing that everything just works, but I like to verify myself as strange problems can happen sometimes when computers are involved: http://community.f-secure.com/t5/Security/How-to-test-Anti-Virus-and/m-p/47395 The link to…
