How many clients can I connect to a single Policy Manager Server? Is there any limit for that?
There is no official limit to how many clients can be managed. However note that the hardware requirements will need to be adjusted to the number of clients managed.
From the release notes:
"P4 2 GHz, 1GB RAM. Managing more than 5000 hosts requires at least P4 3 GHz multi-core processor and 2GB RAM."
How many clients would you like to manage with a single instance of PMS?
up to 3000 Client Security hosts
then if you follow the minimum requirement you should be on the safe side.
Traditional wisdom says:
Up to 5000 endpoints for a Windows Server OS based F-Secure Policy Manager Server, if the hardware is strong enough, including LARGE amounts of free disk storage space.
Up to 15k endpoints, possible even more when using a Linux OS based F-Secure Policy Manager Server (of course this setup also needs very strong HW).
However, it is somewhat unlikely that 3k, 10k or 30k workstations would be lumped together in a single building or on a single LAN. When the very large customer is distributed across several sites, FSPM based central control is at some disadvantage, due to lack of support for management hierarchy. (It is not possible to define a king PMS, which manages vassal PMSes, which then manage minion PMSes.)
