Regarding Policy Manager 11 for Linux

Hi,
Please allow me to clarify the situation with Policy Manager Linux 11 and what you can expect in the near future.
We have made the decision to cancel the project to enable Software Updater (SWUP) with Policy Manager (PM) Linux. The are several reasons behind this decision but most importantly, technical ones. The underlying technology used by Software Updater is a technology well supported and tied to the Windows platform. This created significant challenges when trying to integrate the technology onto the Policy Manager Linux platform and the resulting solution would have been very complex and challenging to both maintain and support.
From now on, we will have two Policy Manager branches available:
- Policy Manager Windows supporting workstation and server clients with Software Updater (PM version 11.xx)
- Policy Manager Linux supporting workstation and server clients running without Software Updater (PM version 10.xx)
Excluding aforementioned SWUP functionality to support existing and upcoming F-Secure products implementing this feature, F-Secure is fully committed to supporting and continuing development of Policy Manager for Linux. We are currently preparing a new Policy Manager Linux release to add support for new items like Windows 8.1 operating system and new F-Secure clients. This release will take place by end of November 2013.
Last but not least, Client Security 11 (Standard) without SWUP is fully supported with the existing Policy Manager Linux version 10.10 or newer.

Hello Ipiasecki,
Did you try using Policy Manager console 11.10? Did you get any error?
Alternatively as Dannii mentioned you can run the console 10.30 on Linux.

Hello Ipiasecki,
Thank you for your quick feedback. Just one more precision for you.
As mentioned in the documentation, it is in fact mandatory to use PM 11.10 or PM Linux 10.30 if you want to manage our latest clients(11.50).
4.4 Centralized management requirements
"The following versions of F-Secure Policy Manager are required to centrally manage F-Secure Client

F-Secure Policy Manager (Windows) 11.10 or newer
F-Secure Policy Manager (Linux) 10.30 or newer"0 Like -

Hi, just a quick update on the subject. From version 11.30 there is Software Updater also in the Linux version. It will be released soon. Version number will be 11.30 for the next release for Windows and Linux versions as the features are now the same. Beta is avalable for the F-Secure partners in the partner portal.

Hello,
A few days ago FSPM 11.30 was publicly released as Gold/RTM version for both the Windows Server and Linux platform and both have the "Software Updater" capability (part of Premium Subscription). There are other nice developments in it, like centralized e-mail reporting and SYSLOG support!
The only thing I'm not happy about is the fragmented nature of Linux installers (12 packages to keep track of, due to PMC/PMS/AUA x 32bit/64bit x RPM/DEB combinations).
Best Regards: Tamas Feher, Hungary.
