Software updater on PSB for Servers?

Just wanted to confirm...

 

Software updater is only available for PSB for Workstations, not PSB Server Security, right?

 

And regarding browsing protection. Is it availble on PSB Server Security or PSB Email & Server security only? (according to product features web page)

Hello Costas,

 

You are right. Currently software updater is present in PSB for Workstations only. Next it will be presented in Client Security 11. And after that possibly in Server Security products.

 

In version 9.20 Browsing protection is available in PSB Email & Server security only.

In Policy Manager ESS 10.00 it's available both in Server Security and Email & Server Security.

The same approach will be in upcoming PSB SS/ESS version 10.00.

With regards to Software Updater in F-Secure Client Security 11:

 

Do you think this feature will be robust enough to handle (install) 3rd party patches?

 

Do you recommend it only for centrally investigating and summarizing the computer's vulnerability-hotfix situation, in practice leaving the installation steps to specific 3rd party tools? (which has been the conservative Sophos approach or philosophy)

Yes, sure.

It is possible to use Software updater for investigation snd summarizing purposes only. But the complex approach, meaning usage of Software updater for managing 3rd party patches installations as well, could be comfortable and easy-to-use solution for most of our customers.
