After installation PSB Computer Protection or Server Protection is in Protection malfunction state and unable to download malware definition updates - F-Secure Community
<main> <article class="userContent"> <h3 data-version="5" data-article="000011878" data-id="issue">Issue:</h3> <p></p><ul><li>After installation, PSB Computer Protection or Server Protection is in <b>Protection malfunction</b> state</li><li>Status shows <b>Computer is not protected</b></li><li><b>Check for updates</b> page shows the product to be unable to download malware definition updates from the update server</li></ul><h3 data-id="resolution">Resolution:</h3> <p></p><p>If the product is unable to contact the update server, it will not be able to download any virus definition updates and will begin to show the protection malfunction error and ask the user to restart the computer. <br><br>You can check the connectivity to the update server by clicking the <b>View log file </b>button on the <b>Check for updates</b> page in the local user interface. Here is an example of a failed connection:<br><br><i>I: Connecting to guts2.sp.f-secure.com<br>I: Connection failed</i><br><br>If the connection to the update server fails, you need to ensure that your firewall or proxy is not blocking the connectivity.<br><br>To verify, you can try to reach the update server address with a web browser by entering the address <a href="http://guts2.sp.f-secure.com" rel="nofollow">http://guts2.sp.f-secure.com</a> to the address bar. If the update server is reachable, you will receive the following message:<br><br><b>F-Secure Automatic Update Server.
