After the installation, possibly after some delay, you may see the following error message:
Driver installation requires a reboot.
When you turn on FREEDOME, you may see the following error message:
Sorry. Something went wrong.

There might be some rare cases where FREEDOME is not able to install the TAP driver it requires for it to work.

The reason for the errors is that something in Windows is blocking FREEDOME from creating the TAP driver to the system. Probably something from Windows Update is being (or has been) installed, and Windows is pending restart.

To solve the issue:

  1. Click the Start menu, and type in windows update in the search box.
  2. Click on Windows Update. The Windows Update window opens.
  3. Check if there are any updates available for your computer. If there are updates available, install them and restart the computer.
  4. As soon as the computer has restarted, start FREEDOME and try to make a connection.
  5. If the problem persists, you can try to solve the issue by opening the Network Connections page from the Command Prompt with administrator rights:
    1. Click the Start menu, and type in command prompt in the search box.
    2. Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. The Command Prompt window opens.
    3. Type in control ncpa.cpl and press Enter. The Network Connections control panel window should now appear on the screen.

Note: Do not close the window.

    4. Open FREEDOME and turn it on. "FreedomeVPNConnection" TAP driver should now appear in the Network Connections window, and FREEDOME should work normally again.
    5. Close the Network Connections window.
