How do I delete all existing password data and start fresh for F-Secure KEY?

Issue:

I want to start fresh for my F-Secure KEY. How do I remove all entries at once?

Resolution:

On iPhone and iPad (iOS) you need to reinstall the product. Uninstall happens by touching the app icon for a brief moment until icons start to move. You will discover a circle with a cross in it. Pressing the cross "deletes" the app, i.e. does the uninstall. This also removes all the encrypted data. Now when you install the app again you will be asked to create the master password just as with first use and the contents of the app will be empty.

On Android you need to navigate to the apps menu via settings. When you find the F-Secure KEY from your app list, select the "Force stop" to shut down the app and then use the clear data button next to force stop to clean all app related data. When you restart the app again you will be asked to create the master password just as with first use and the contents of the app will be empty.

On Windows you must first close F-Secure KEY application. Then open the Windows control panel and select "Add or remove programs". In the list of installed programs you will see installation package called "F-Secure KEY: User Data". When you uninstall this user data package it will clean the password data of the current user. You can now close the control panel dialogs and restart F-Secure KEY. You will be asked to create the master password just as with first use and the contents of the app will be empty. (In the background a new "F-Secure KEY: User Data" installation package will be created.)

In case of errors you can also manually rename or delete folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\F-Secure\Pwmgr\LocalStorage

On Mac OS X you must first close F-Secure KEY application. All the user data is stored in a hidden directory in users home directory. This path is:

~/Library/Application Support/F-Secure/Pwmgr

  1. Uninstall the F-Secure KEY program
  2. Click Go in the top menu of the Mac
  3. Click Alt / Command on the keyboard. This will show add a button called Library. Click on that button
  4. Choose Application Support
  5. Click on F-Secure
  6. Move Pwmgr to Trash
  7. Install F-Secure KEY again. Now you can create a new account. When you now start F-Secure KEY you will be asked to create the master password just as with first use and the contents of the app will be empty
Another way to remove F-Secure KEY completely from Mac OS X is to remove both the F-Secure KEY application and the local storage (containing logs and passwords).

Note: Before you start removing the product, make sure that F-Secure KEY is no longer running.

To remove the product from your Mac:

  1. Open the command prompt:
    1. Open the Applications folder
    2. Open the Utilities folder
    3. Double-click Terminal
  2. Use the command line to run the following commands:
    • rm -r "/Applications/F-Secure KEY.app" (This removes the application)

    • rm -r ~/Library/Application\ Support/F-Secure/Pwmgr (This removes the local storage)

You have now removed F-Secure KEY from your Mac computer.
