FREEDOME installation fails on a computer with a ZoneAlarm firewall
If you have a ZoneAlarm firewall installed on your PC, this causes your FREEDOME installation to fail. A FREEDOME error message stating Something went wrong may appear, or FREEDOME may request a reboot during installation.
This happens, as the ZoneAlarm firewall blocks the FREEDOME TAP network driver to be installed. This applies to both new FREEDOME installations, as well as upgrades.
- Uninstall the ZoneAlarm firewall.
- After ZoneAlarm is uninstalled, turn on the Windows firewall (this is highly recommended).
- Install FREEDOME again.
Note: Disabling ZoneAlarm does not prevent this issue.
Once FREEDOME is installed on the computer, ZoneAlarm can be reinstalled. However, with the next FREEDOME upgrade, the same issue will occur again.
