Issue:
We are going to switch from Internet Explorer to Microsoft Edge on Chromium. Does F-Secure Browsing Protection in Client Security 14.x support this web browser?
Resolution:
F-Secure Browsing Protection works in Microsoft Edge on Chromium with latest updates in place.
However, the Microsoft Edge web browser does not prompt the end-user to enable the Browsing Protection extension when it is opened for the first time. This issue is spotted in the latest Microsoft Edge on Chromium.
To work around the issue, you will need to forcefully enable the F-Secure Browsing Protection extension in Microsoft Edge on Chromium via GPO by doing the following:
- Download the administrative template for Edge Chromium at here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/business/download
NOTE: Select the respective build and platform, and click on "Get policy files" to download the administrative template
- Extract and import the administrative template(from \windows\adm\msedge.adm) you downloaded in step 1 into Group Policy Editor.
- Setup the GPO at Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Classic Administrative Templates (ADM) > Microsoft Edge > Extensions > Control which extensions are installed silently (Change to "Enabled") together the following:
===================================================
Extension ID: jmjjnhpacphpjmnnlnccpfmhkcloaade
Auto-Update URL: https://clients2.google.com/service/update2/crx

The GPO configuration is similar to the steps as documented for Google Chrome:
