New Idea

Add a gamer mode

Status: New Idea
by thin a week ago

I was just in the middle of intence action when my game crashed to desktop because F-Secure IS 2012 wanted to inform me some mundane information about it's status.

When I'm playing games or doing something as intence I would like to put everything else on the background. As I can just close my emails and instant messengers I would also like to suppress notifications from my antivirus too just for the purpose to concentrate on what I'm doing.

I suggest you add some easy way to make F-Secure "disappear" while I'm playing and then come back when I'm not. This applies not only the popups and messages, but all the processor time consuming background tasks it does too if possible.

Greetings,

As you know, lately using GPU for general processing gets more and more popular

You know, IE9 does something of it, a lot of other things do that, so, basically, future will be in GPGPUs, I suggest you to slowly began working on it, researching it and so on.

You can make FS products to be able to detect if system is acceptable for that, and/or make some kind of settings for that(e.g.. Do utilize GPU, or use this % of GPU and CPU so on, and so on).

This is kinda futuristic so far, but in few years most of resource demanding apps will be utilizing GPU.

Hi There... I am not sure if anyone mentioned this yet but I have found that F-Secure will not work in Safe Mode or not for me at least. This is an idea that could be developed for future versions of your products. Sometimes it is the only way to get rid of a virus or malware or whatever. I have been testing the beta version on Windows 8 and I must say it has excellent prevention and no bugs I have discovered yet nor any crashes either. I have purposely put it against sites that I know has malware and it has blocked everything so far. I have it on a seperate drive so if something does get through then I won't lose very much.. only my time. So far I am very pleased.

Hi Kimo2012, Thanks for submitting your idea on our community. Functionality in Safe Mode is limited on Windows. For that reason, creating a solid security solution that would work fully in Safe Mode has its limitations. For that reason, we recommend users that are running in Safe Mode to use our Online Scanner to scan for malware. Regards, Sami

Please investigate and add Browser Protection for Google Chrome, as it has now overtaken Firefox to become the No 2 Browser behind IE in use worldwide according to StatCounter. See the following link for more information:

Improved Interface

Status: Future Consideration
by on 22-02-2012 07:13 PM

Why so far in the F-Secure does not have the "Repair All"? This is useful when, for example, we want to quickly enable or upgrade old security signature database

I think also that's a good idea would be possible to switch off protection from the context menu.

This is not a difficult thing to do, and would really benefit from the improved.

Cheers :smileyhappy:

Helpful Tools

Hello!
I have some suggestions on how to improve the version of 2013,and more specificallythe tool should add.
First of all:
-the ability to create rescue CD from the program.
This option really missing meCurrently, almost all programshave the useful function
-scanning of removable media when connected to PC andpossibility to protect it (such as Panda USB Vaccine)
-scan for vulnerabilities in the Windows (such as in Kaspersky and Panda).

I think that these tools should appear in the next version of the F-Secure. The idea is to add new features that will give greater protection and opportunities.
And you, how do you think?

 Cheers

PC Shut Down After Scan

Status: Under Consideration
by on 20-12-2011 05:20 PM

I would like the option for F-Secure to Shut the PC Down after a scan if it doesn't find anything that I need to be a part of in the decision process. (i.e. disinfect/quarantine)

I would like to se more information displayed on GUI and some kind activity indicator in task tray

Thing I would like to see is more information about the following..

For the Automatic Update GUI..I dont just want to see the number of updates released

I would like to se the total definition the user is currently protected aginst

For now the only way to see this is looking in the aquarius folder and open Update.txt

For the Antivirus GUI..I would like to se more information about recently scanned files

Driver/Folder path not just the total amount scanned files

It Would be nice to have a activity indicator in F-secures tray

One other thing I would like F-secure to add is a Pause button when scanning the PC

Browser Sandboxing

I think that in the next version, you can add new features that improve security. Virtualization browser (sandbox) is probably a good idea. What do you say:smileyhappy:

Newer versions of some security solutions I've also tried (Bitdefender, Avast and -I think it was- Kaspersky) have their browser addon also available for x64 Internet Explorer.  Since I'm mostly using IE 9 x64 for browsing, any chance F-secure will release x64 compatible browser addons?

OLB statistics page

Status: Future Consideration
by on 11-01-2012 09:54 PM

Greetings,

I was looking at statistics page and found not much useful information, I would say that pie chart says absolutely nothing.

Does it mean what was uploaded out of what should be uploaded or what?

I suggest you to make bar chart indicating how many files/bytes of information were uploaded, and besides it also make pie chart indicating how many different things were backed up(e.g. 5%documents, 50% pictures and so on). but also will be good to have information about particular date how many were uploaded(e.g. for this were uploaded 5GB; on this week were uploaded 50 GBs; and so on).

However, it will be good if you'll do all of them in similar manner as you have with Online Safety.

So, what I think how it should be: you should be able to change between currencies(first current is bytes of information and second is files), you should be able to change view between pie and box charts(where box chart will indicate how many files were uploaded by date(5GB 11th january, 2GB 12th January, and so on), but pie should indicate what type of data were uploaded in particular day), however also, there should be information about what type and how many files were uploaded totally(since installation of OLB) and how many are they currently out there(at this fixed time, you know you have removed some files after initial upload)

I'm sure, this will be much much more helpful than what we have to day

Suggestion : Option to log all rules in alert log

Status: Future Consideration
by on 28-08-2011 02:41 PM - last edited on 28-08-2011 02:41 PM

Sometimes you can't tell which rule is working and which rule is messing something up.  In order to troubleshoot that, I have to create custom rules (usually allowing or denying everything) and have them create logs because I cannot touch the default rules.  Could there be an option to tell the firewall to log anything that applies to any of the rules in effect in the alert log, for troubleshooting purposes?

Greetings,

As F-Secure's latest versions are getting more and more user-made, please write into About window of products to whom belongs big used ideas, for example who's idea was to make Launch Pad as base of FS products(as is now).

Status: Future Consideration
Thanks for the input. Large products such as IS2012/PSC are the result of coordinated work by a very big group of people, so it is not always feasible to trace an idea back to a particular person. Ideas usually change considerably on the journey from idea to productization as people contribute to them.

Don't Become Unnecessary Bloatware

This is not so much of an idea, but maybe of what not to do, and that is, don't try to do so much other stuff other than improving the Web Browsing and PC Security.

I had run the trial version of Kaspersky 2012 Security Suite, and they have so many things you can click and tick, so many misc options, that it can become bloatware, people can do more harm than good with all (to many?) under the hood changes that can be made, and they (Kaspersky) can lose track of true PC security, in trying to cover every base, and be all things to all people.

In my opinion, F-Secure is one of the top 2-3 Suites on the market (AV-Comparatives 2010 Product of the year) without so many system and software glitches as the competitors seem to have.  Just make some tweaks, and minor add ons as people are suggesting here. If a family member or friend wanted a no muss, no fuss Security Suite for protection, and not because it has a file shredder etc. this is the one I would recommend.

Thank you for the suggestion and your continued support. With every release we strive hard to keep the user experience simple to understand and operate for normal users, even though the under the hood the technology gets more and more complex to address new threats.

Enhanced Launch pad and add the ability to delete files that are in the archives antivirus engine.

I would like to make it more options in the launch pad. It should be added. I'll give examples.

Computer Security:
- turn off antivirus and antispyware
a) turn off completely (turns on automatically when the computer new start)
b) off for 10, 20 minutes (after this time antivirus turn on again)
c) Turn on antivirus (when it stopped running for a while and now we want to manually turn it on)

- Rebuild the network traffic blocking windows firewall
- Instead unlock all network traffic would prefer to be a "return to default settings"
- Ability to enable and disable the automatic scanning USB. Of course, the main options.

Online safety:
- If you have setup your account at any time constraints or semantic. Belonged to add buttons so that the faster we will be able to enable or disable these settings.

Fsecure:
- I would like to make it so that the button will send the suspect file to the Lab. First, from within the program and if not then at least to us addressed to the appropriate web page.

The antivirus engine. I would like to make it possible to manually set the scanning options to remove the whole archive files. Now, for example, if you find any threat that is packaged by hand we must often look for this file. Please add this option, or at least locate the button that the anti-virus file could not be removed.

Thanks and greetings to all

Browsing Protection currently slows down the browser.

Your products otherwise seem to be pretty good in performance, try to keep it that way!! :smileywink:

F-secure's website has a clean and modern look.  It seems like it should be easy to find what I want, but I seem to continue to have a hard time finding what I want.  I cant' really describe what the problems are, but two areas come to mind.

The business and home sections seem to be intermixed in a confusing manner.

The sample submission is confusing as well.  The file, url, and browsing sections should be combined.  Aren't you using the same database and hueristics for all of them?

When I submit something I don't have an option of "I don't know what it is, but it looks suspicious" and is "malware" really differnt from "spyware" ?

When I submit a URL I don't get any feedback or tracking.

How do I submit a suspicious e-mail that has questionable links?  Do I submit the url's?  Do I save the email as a file and submit that?  If it has an attachment do I submit that and any links seprately?

I have submitted stuff that has to have been phishing emails in the past and they all show as green ok sites in sample analysis.  Some I know were labeled as bad by some of your competitors.

Add a few options

Status: New Idea
by on 10-04-2012 02:20 PM

I would like F-secure to add a few options like the ability to..

Exclude processes from real-time scanning.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Its very useful when using streaming applications..

Exclude Safe Websites from real-time scanning.

...........................................................................................

I have hade major problems with watching videos at youtube.com and listing to news at Sverigesradio.se..an its very      annoying..F-secure simply scans to much an causes delays all the time..its quite often I turn off real-time

scanning because of all delays..

I know that F-secure wants to keep it as simple as possible. But I would like F-secure to add

like an Expert view for advanced options and Basic view for novice users..in that way the users can choose the view that

best suites the users needs

The PMC/PMS is a very good engine for distributing F-Secure software, and why not use this engine to distribute or run more than just F-Secure updates on computers that have an administered version of F-Secure installed?

Let me explain: We sometimes need to run a simple .bat file or .msi file on a group of computers without the user's interaction, and running it using a login script is not always a viable option. We want the file to be run now, without having the users log off/on. It would be very nice if we could place the .bat/.msi file on a network share and then run it by distributing an execute command to the selected clients that we want to run it. It would not just be a set of predefined commands hardcoded into the PMC gui, but rather a "remote command line" that can be used to run admin specified commands.

I can see this feature fitting nicely on the "Operations" tab in PMC, together with the option tos to update virus defs and scan for viruses.

On my short list of useful commands to run on clients would be the reset UID command so I can generate the new style GUIDs on clients that are upgraded from older versions of F-Secure and thus having the older UIDs.Yeah, I know that this feature will soon be obsolete, but I still have over 1000 computers with old style UIDs, and I want to bump them up to GUIDs.

After all, if you don't trust your friendly neighborhood F-Secure admin to only run safe and secure commands on the administered computers, then who do you trust? The users? :smileysurprised:

Hi, the Windows Home Server community is in need of a good supported anti-virus product. Could F-Secure provide such a product for the home user as the business server software is way too expensive. Or maybe offer a cut-down version of the business software for use with home servers.
